visualising communal software development + Eben Moglen on Software in the 21st Century
This YouTube video was made with Gource, a Software Version Control Visualisation Tool and shows the growth of some significant software projects such as Git, Ruby on Rails and Linux. Eben Moglen gave a speech on “Software and Community in the Early 21st Century” at the 2006 Plone conference, that I keep returning to as one of the deepest and most eloquent arguments on the topic. All 65 minutes of it are captivating and worth watching.
